Lucknow, 27 June. On Saturday, there was an encounter between the police and criminal Sanjay alias Sanjeev, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, on Indira Canal Road in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, Sanjay was injured by a bullet during the encounter. He was taken to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences for immediate treatment, where doctors declared him dead after examination. According to the police, this action was taken under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Singh.
The police team had received information about Sanjay’s presence at a place, after which the area was cordoned off. Meanwhile, there was an encounter between the police and the accused, in which he got injured. According to the information, Sanjay alias Sanjeev, son of Hariram, was a resident of Chak Kodar village of Ahirauli police station area of Ambedkarnagar district. He was the main shooter and wanted accused in the famous builder Sandeep Singh murder case that took place on 27 May 2026 in the PGI police station area of Lucknow.
On his arrest in this case, the Police Commissioner, Lucknow had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh. According to the police, Sanjay has a long criminal history. Several cases of murder and other serious crimes were registered against him in various districts including Ambedkar Nagar, Basti and Ayodhya. Police claim that he was involved in many sensational murders and organized criminal activities.
According to investigating agencies, Sanjay was associated with notorious criminals Dilip Verma and Khan Mubarak gang. Police say that he, along with other gang members, had committed several heinous crimes and was under the surveillance of law enforcement agencies for a long time. When the police arrived to arrest him on Saturday, an encounter took place. During this, he got injured and when taken to the hospital, the doctors declared him dead.
