Cristiano Ronaldo Confirms Marriage to Georgina Rodriguez

Portugal football star Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed his marriage to long-time girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez on Tuesday. On his official Instagram account, Ronaldo shared a photograph showing the couple holding hands and wearing rings. The caption read, “C(heart emoji)G”.

Ronaldo was recently active with Portugal during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where his team was eliminated in the round of 16 in July. Spain secured a 1–0 victory thanks to a late goal from Mikel Merino in a match featuring players such as Bruno Fernandes, Lamine Yamal, Mikel Oyarzabal, and Ronaldo himself.

Playing in his final FIFA World Cup as announced before the match against Spain, Ronaldo left the pitch visibly emotional after Portugal’s narrow defeat. Missed chances by both Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes contributed to the team’s exit, concluding his illustrious career on football’s largest stage.

Since Ronaldo’s World Cup debut in 2006, Portugal’s best finish with him was fourth place that year, followed by elimination in the round of 16 in 2010, a group stage exit in 2014, and a round of 16 elimination in 2018. The 2022 tournament saw Portugal reach the quarterfinals, but it was Lionel Messi who secured the World Cup for Argentina and strengthened his position in ‘GOAT’ discussions with his outstanding performance in the final.

Ronaldo’s World Cup career concluded with 27 appearances, the second most by any player, and 11 goals, a tally considered below expectations given his club achievements. Ahead of the 2026 tournament, there was uncertainty about Ronaldo’s participation, but he nevertheless delivered a respectable performance, scoring three goals in five matches.
