Why Deepika Padukone left Spirit? Producer reveals key demands
Pranay said negotiations with Deepika stretched on for nearly a year and a half before collapsing entirely. According to him, the sticking point wasn’t a straightforward pay bump — reportedly in the range of INR 5–6 crore — but a request for 10 per cent of the film’s profits. Pranay added that while an actor is free to negotiate, the production’s overall economics have to hold up.
Other reports circulating around the same claims put more specific numbers on the table — suggesting Deepika’s team sought roughly INR 25 crore for about 35 days of shooting, on top of the 10 per cent profit share, along with entourage and accommodation provisions. Scheduling was reportedly another flashpoint, with earlier accounts pointing to a disputed eight-hour shooting-day demand.
Pranay didn’t stop at the money. He also accused Deepika’s camp of leaking confidential creative details after the producers began scouting replacements.
This isn’t the first time the ‘leak’ narrative has surfaced. Back in May 2025, Sandeep Reddy Vanga posted a cryptic message on X widely interpreted as aimed at Deepika, invoking an ‘unsaid NDA’ between director and actor and accusing an unnamed party of “disclosing” details after being cast aside. The post arrived shortly after Triptii Dimri was announced in the lead role Deepika had once been attached to.
Regarding the 10 per cent profit-share claim and the leak allegation, Deepika Padukone has not released a public response. This is a one-sided description of a negotiation that, by all accounts, just didn’t work out for either party until she or her team responds.
