15Dehradun women case: A case of an alleged attempt to drag a woman into a car has come to light at Nalapani Chowk in Dehradun on Wednesday morning. The woman was returning home on a scooter after leaving her daughter at the college bus. Meanwhile, a black car stopped near her and the youth in it tried to grab the woman and drag her inside the car. When the woman raised an alarm, people nearby ran towards the spot. Meanwhile, three female sweepers who were cleaning the road also reached there and opposed the youth with brooms. After this the accused fled from the spot.
The woman was returning after taking her daughter in the bus
According to the police, the 45-year-old woman had gone to drop her daughter to the college bus in the morning. After her daughter boarded the bus, she was returning home on a scooter. When he reached near Nalapani Chowk on Sahastradhara Road, a black car stopped near his scooter. It is alleged that three to four youths present in the car caught hold of the woman and tried to forcibly drag her inside the car. The woman started making noise in protest.
Three female sweepers ran after hearing the sound
Hearing the screams of the woman, nearby people started coming towards the spot. At the same time, three female sweepers who were cleaning the road also heard the noise and reached the spot with brooms in their hands. According to the police, the sanitation workers opposed the youth and started beating them with brooms. The accused got scared due to this sudden protest and gathering of people around. After this, they fled in the car leaving the woman behind.
Search for accused through CCTV
After the incident the woman informed the police. On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered the case and started investigation. Police are now examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed in Nalapani Chowk and surrounding areas. At present no accused has been identified. Police are trying to identify the car and the youth traveling in it. Besides, it is also being investigated what was the motive of the accused behind trying to drag the woman into the car.
