Delhi Building Collapse: Six people died in a building collapse incident in Satya Niketan area of Delhi. Located in a narrow lane of Satya Niketan near Delhi University's South Campus, the nearly 50-year-old five-storey building housing the boys' hostel collapsed on Sunday afternoon. CM Rekha Gupta reached Satya Niketan and took stock of the relief and rescue work. During this, he said that strict action will be taken against any officer found guilty of negligence or omission.

CM Rekha Gupta told reporters on Monday, 'This was a very old building. Due to water filling in the basement, its pillars became weak, due to which the entire building collapsed. Action has already been taken in this matter and action will also be taken against the owner of the building. The building immediately behind it has been completely evacuated and will be demolished as a precaution. The government, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation, is formulating a policy to ensure that all places running in the public domain – like PG accommodation, nursing homes and schools – undergo structural audit from time to time.
He further said, 'No kind of public activity will be allowed in buildings which are not certified structurally safe. We will not allow students to stay in unsafe PG accommodation. Accommodation arrangements have been made for the students evacuated from the area and the government is taking full care of their needs and well-being. We are also in direct contact with the parents of those affected by this incident. Strict action will be taken against any officer found guilty of negligence or lapse…'
