Delhi. The person who ran the PG in the building that collapsed in South Delhi's Satya Niketan area on Sunday has been arrested. Police gave this information on Wednesday. So far 5 arrests have been made in the case. At the same time, further investigation and inquiry is going on. Officials said that the facts revealed during the investigation will be investigated in detail.
7 deaths so far
Let us tell you that on Sunday afternoon, seven people died when a building collapsed in Satya Niketan area of Delhi. The building was being used as 'paying guest' (PG) accommodation for students. Twelve people were pulled out of the debris of the building, out of which seven died and five others were injured.
Police arrested PG operator
A senior police officer said that PG operator Sudhanshu has been arrested and he is being interrogated further. Earlier, the police had arrested building owner Urmila Gupta, 75, her husband Hariram Gupta, 81, retired from the Air Force, and their son Mahesh Gupta (52) in connection with the building collapse.
At the same time, contractor Sonaj, who was doing repair work in the basement of the building, was arrested from Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh. Who was looking after the repair work in the basement of PG building of Satya Niketan.
Work was going on at ground level
Police said that during initial interrogation of Sanoj, it was revealed that on the day the accident took place, work on the basement floor was going on. Renovations were being done at the ground level to increase space for commercial purposes.
MCD's bulldozer action, demolition order against 24 properties
Following the building collapse incident in Satya Niketan area, 26 show cause notices for unauthorized construction and four for sealing and 12 demolition orders were issued across Delhi-NCR. Apart from this, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) took bulldozer action against 24 properties. Also seven illegal structures were sealed.
Students leaving PG near Satya Niketan
Concern has increased among students after the collapse of a 5-storey building in the area. Due to which now students have started leaving PG. On September 6, a five-storey building collapsed here. 7 students were buried under the debris and died. After the accident, concerns about safety have increased among students living in the area.
