Big gift to the women of Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will release the first installment of Lakshmi Yojana tomorrow.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta: Tomorrow a big historic step is being taken towards the economic empowerment of the women of Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will release the first installment of Lakshmi Yojana in a special and grand ceremony to be held at the famous Talkatora Stadium in Delhi tomorrow. This program will start at 11 am, in which thousands of women from across the capital will participate. Putting into practice the promises made in the election manifesto, the Delhi government is preparing to bring a new dawn in the lives of lakhs of families through this scheme.

Direct benefits to thousands of women in the first phase

During this big program to be organized tomorrow, the first installment of the scheme will be handed over to about 2500 women. Tremendous enthusiasm is being seen among the women of the capital regarding Lakshmi Yojana and this is the reason that till now more than 6 lakh women have registered themselves in this scheme. This scheme is not just a financial assistance, but this support of Rs 2500 every month will support the household budget, will encourage the education and dreams of daughters and will also provide confidence to women to take their own decisions.

Two unique options for payment and saving

Delhi Government has introduced two great options in the payment process to make women from economically weaker sections financially literate and self-reliant. Under the first option, Rs 1500 will be deposited in the bank account of the female beneficiary in the form of RD or FD, which will remain locked till 31 July 2029 so that a huge savings can be created. Along with this, Rs 1000 will be given in Central Bank Digital Currency i.e. CBDC wallet, which can be used for daily expenses. As another option, if the beneficiary woman wants, she can keep the entire amount of Rs 2500 directly in her RD or FD account.

Necessary eligibility fixed for the scheme

The government has set clear rules to ensure that the benefits of Lakshmi Yojana reach the right and needy women. The age of the woman applying for this scheme should be between 21 to 60 years. Along with this, the total annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. It is mandatory for the applicant woman or her family to reside in Delhi for the last 10 years. For the application process, it has been made necessary to have Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Income Certificate, Voter ID Card of Delhi and bank account linked to Aadhar.

Some people will not get benefits under these rules

To maintain the transparency of the scheme, some strict rules have also been implemented so that ineligible people cannot take advantage of it. Families doing government jobs, income tax payers, businessmen filing GST and families owning four wheelers have been kept out of the scope of this scheme. Apart from this, families who consume more than 2400 units of electricity annually or women who have more than 3 living children will not be able to avail the benefits of this scheme. The government has given a clear warning that the entire amount will be recovered from those taking benefits by giving wrong information and legal action will also be taken against them.

Big provision of Rs 5110 crore in the budget

To run this ambitious scheme smoothly, the Delhi government has made a provision of a huge amount of Rs 5110 crore in the budget for the financial year 2026-27. In the coming time, a target has been set to bring more than 17 lakh eligible women of the capital under the ambit of this scheme. The government believes that regular financial assistance will strengthen the social and family status of women, which will give a new impetus to the social development of entire Delhi. This journey starting tomorrow from Talkatora Stadium is going to give a new identity and self-reliance to the women power of Delhi.
