Hotel owner Lavkesh Bajaj arrested in Malviya Nagar fire case, case registered under various sections including culpable homicide.
Hotel Owner Lavkesh Bajaj Detained: Delhi Police has taken major action and taken hotel owner Lavkesh Bajaj into custody in the case of a massive fire incident in a hotel located in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi. So far 21 people have died in this accident, while many others have been injured. Police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Justice Code including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Investigative agencies are probing possible violations of fire safety and licensing norms at the hotel.

Meanwhile, AIIMS Delhi has shared information about the people injured in the accident. A total of 13 people were brought to AIIMS Trauma Centre. Among them were three people who jumped from the height of the hotel to escape the fire. According to the hospital, two of the three injured who fell from height were freed. The condition of both is said to be stable. At the same time, a woman suffering from serious head injury has been operated on and her condition still remains critical.
10 policemen included among the injured
Delhi AIIMS also said that out of the 13 injured admitted to the trauma centre, 10 were Delhi Police personnel who were involved in the rescue operation. These policemen were the first to enter the burning building and were busy taking out the people trapped inside. The condition of all the policemen is stable and they can be discharged soon. The hospital also received three unidentified bodies, which have been sent to the Burns and Plastic Surgery department for further processing.
21 people lost their lives
It is noteworthy that around 8:50 am on Wednesday morning, there is a possibility of fire originating from a restaurant operating in the basement of the hotel. Within no time the fire spread to the entire multi-storey building. Rescue teams pulled out 47 people safely, but the lives of 21 people could not be saved.

Foreign nationals also included among the dead
According to officials, the dead also include citizens of Liberia, Nigeria, Mozambique and Bangladesh. Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Service and disaster management teams carried out relief and rescue operations for several hours, which was completed around noon. Now after the custody of the hotel owner, the focus of the investigation is whether the safety standards in the hotel were ignored and whether due to negligence this accident could take such a horrific form.
