Delhi-NCR Rain Alert – Red Warning Issued Amid Severe Waterlogging, Check Today Forecast

Delhi Weather Update: Intermittent rain has been continuing across Delhi-NCR for the past 24 hours. The persistent rainfall has led to a drop in maximum temperatures, making the weather in Delhi quite chilly. This heavy downpour has caused waterlogging in several areas of the NCR, including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Commuters are also facing heavy traffic on their way to work.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that there is no likelihood of relief from the rain today; a ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for Delhi. The rain has brought down temperatures across the region, resulting in cool weather, especially during the early morning hours.

Storm Warning
According to the IMD, an alert has been issued for cloudy skies and light rain in Delhi-NCR for both today (July 9) and tomorrow (July 10). Additionally, strong winds are expected. Waterlogging in various parts of the city due to the ongoing rain is causing significant inconvenience to residents. The IMD has issued ‘Red’ and ‘Orange’ alerts anticipating thunderstorms and rain in the coming hours.

Rainfall figures across Delhi:
Recorded rainfall includes 65 mm at Lodhi Road, 63 mm at Mehrauli, 57 mm at Mayur Vihar, 47 mm at Chhatarpur, and 42 mm each at Naraina and Najafgarh. Meanwhile, Ghaziabad recorded 42 mm at Hindon and 97 mm at Kamala Nehru Nagar. In Gurugram, 20 mm was recorded at North Cap University and 15 mm at KVK, while Gautam Buddha Nagar saw 87 mm at Chol; heavy rainfall was also observed at Lodhi Road, Pusa, Ghaziabad, and GB Nagar.

IMD Alert
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the spell of rain accompanied by thunderstorms is set to continue in Delhi-NCR on July 9. Wind speeds could reach 30–50 kmph. In view of the rain and storms, the weather department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for Delhi and a ‘Red Alert’ for certain areas.

Winds to Blow at 40 Kmph
The weather department has issued an alert for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in some parts of Delhi over the next few hours. Wind speeds are expected to reach up to 40 kmph. Rainfall has led to waterlogging in several areas of the city, including Sadar Bazar, Nasirpur, Greater Kailash, and Badarpur.
