Major action by Delhi Police, interstate drug syndicate busted; More than 19.70 lakh tablets-capsules recovered

Delhi Police Action: North-East District of Delhi Police has busted a big interstate syndicate involved in illegal procurement, storage and supply of psychotropic drugs. Police have arrested five accused in this case and recovered 19,70,040 Tramadol and Alprazolam tablets-capsules weighing about 470.686 kg from their network. Apart from this, a Tata Safari SUV has also been seized.

According to Rahul Alwal, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North-East District Police, this action is part of the ongoing investigation against illegal trafficking of psychotropic drugs. Police investigation revealed that this network was linked to the supply of psychotropic drugs in many areas including Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh.

Investigation started with the arrest of father and son

The disclosure of the entire network started after the action taken in Jyoti Nagar police station area on June 20, 2026. During the interrogation of the father and son arrested in this case, the police found many important clues related to the drug supply network.

As the investigation progressed, the police arrested Nadeem (30). Tablets-capsules of Tramadol and Alprazolam were recovered from his possession. According to the police, Nadeem was involved in the supply of psychotropic drugs from Bhagirath Palace area of ​​Delhi.

Based on Nadeem’s interrogation, the police arrested his alleged supplier Navneet (35) from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. During police custody remand, a raid was conducted in a warehouse located in Ambedkar City, Noida on the behest of Navneet. A large quantity of psychotropic medicines were recovered from here.

Another accused came forward through digital connection

During the investigation, the police came to know about the alleged role of Ashish Sinha (46). According to the police, technical investigation also revealed a digital connection between Ashish Sinha and Navneet. After this, Ghaziabad resident Ashish Sinha was arrested. A Maruti Baleno car was recovered from his possession.

As the investigation progressed, the police team arrested the main wanted accused Shiv Narayan Jha (45) from Ambedkar City, Noida on 23 July 2026. According to the police, during interrogation, Shiv Narayan Jha gave information about his associate Aman Sharma (34), after which he was also arrested.

According to the police, during verification it also came to light that Shiv Narayan Jha is a Proclaimed Offender (PO) in a case of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

More than 470 kg psychotropic medicines found in Noida house

On the behest of Shiv Narayan Jha, the police team searched a house in Ambedkar City located in Sector-122 of Gautam Buddha Nagar. A large quantity of Tramadol and Alprazolam medicines were recovered from here.

The seizures include 11,66,400 tablets of Alprazolam 0.25, 18,600 tablets of Alprazolam 0.5, 1,31,400 tablets of Tramadol, 80,640 capsules of Tramadol Red and 5,73,000 capsules of Tramadol Green.

According to the police, a total of 19,70,040 tablets and capsules, whose total weight was about 470.686 kg, were recovered. Apart from this, during the arrest of Nadeem and Navneet, 340 tablets/capsules of Tramadol and 16 tablets of Alprazolam were recovered.

Search continues for other members of the drug network

According to DCP Rahul Alwal, IPS, the investigation has revealed an organized interstate syndicate, which was involved in illegal procurement, storage and supply of psychotropic drugs.

Now the police is busy searching for other accused associated with this network as well as finding out the source of purchase of drugs, financial transactions and the entire distribution network. The recovered psychotropic substances have been seized under the provisions of the NDPS Act.

Rahul Alwal, IPS, DCP North-East District said that Delhi Police’s action against organized drug smuggling networks will continue and strict legal action will be taken against those involved in such crimes.
