Relief and rescue work continues
New Delhi. The number of people killed in a multi-storey building collapse in south-west Delhi's Satya Niketan area has risen to seven, taking the total number of people killed under the debris to over 100. 11 People have been evacuated. An official gave this information on Monday.
The building, located near the South Campus of Delhi University, was being used as a boys' PG (paying guest) accommodation. Renovation work was going on in the building, Then it collapsed at around 1.30 pm on Sunday afternoon.
Paying guest is a person who stays in a house or residence by paying rent., Where food and other basic facilities are often also provided. Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Service (DFS), Several agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), remained engaged in relief and rescue operations throughout the night.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Amit Goyal said, Another person was pulled out of the debris during the night but he was dead. With this the number of dead increased to six. He said that the search for people allegedly connected to the incident is going on. Police have registered a case against the building owner and others. A magisterial inquiry into the incident has also been ordered.
