Delhi traffic rules are strict: It is mandatory to settle the challan within 45 days, if the challan is not paid then action will be taken

Knews Desk-Delhi government has announced the implementation of a new system to make the traffic rules and challan process more strict and digital. According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, now it will be mandatory to follow the deadline for settlement of traffic challans, otherwise automatic action will be taken.

Challan became completely digital and transparent

Under the new system, challans will be issued in a completely digital and transparent manner. Police officers will now be able to issue challans in both electronic or paper form, while challans will also be automatically generated with the help of cameras and automated systems. The challan information will be sent to the concerned vehicle owner through SMS and email. After the challan is issued, citizens will be given 45 days in which they can either pay the challan or lodge an objection with the necessary evidence on the portal.

If no action is taken within this period, the challan will be automatically considered accepted and payment will be mandatory within the next 30 days. If the objection is rejected, the person will have the option to either deposit the entire amount or pay 50 percent and go to court. If payment is not made after the stipulated deadline, the challan will be considered as finally accepted and payment will be mandatory within 15 days.

Strict action for not following the deadline

The government has made it clear that strict action will be taken if the deadline is not followed. In such cases, all vehicle related works of the vehicle owner like tax payment, license renewal and vehicle registration will be stopped. If necessary, the vehicle may be seized and will be placed in “Not to be Transacted” category. The Chief Minister said that this entire system is being implemented under the amendment of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules and its objective is to strengthen road safety, ensure compliance with rules and bring discipline in the traffic system.

He appealed to the citizens to settle the challan on time and follow the traffic rules, so that road accidents can be reduced and the system can be made more effective.
