Once again the weather patterns are going to change rapidly in the national capital Delhi and the entire NCR. Amid the grand event of the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi, which is gathering top heads of state from across the world, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of worsening weather in the national capital region. After the scorching heat and humidity for the past few days, meteorologists have predicted a new spell of gusty winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, lightning and intermittent moderate to heavy rains. While this seasonal change will provide great relief to the people from the humid heat, on the other hand, the challenge of traffic diversion on the roads of Delhi may increase due to waterlogging and VVIP movement.
According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon trough line is once again moving towards the plains of North India. Along with this, due to the mild effect of moist easterly winds coming from the Bay of Bengal and western disturbance, dense monsoon clouds have started gathering over Delhi-NCR. IMD has predicted light to moderate rain and thundershowers in all seven administrative zones of Delhi during the next 24 to 48 hours. The intensity of rain may increase with severe thunderstorms, especially during evening and night. Special weather monitoring radars have been activated around the summit venue Bharat Mandapam and Lutyens Delhi so that any emergency situation can be dealt with immediately.

Noida and Greater Noida: Cloud movement will continue throughout the day in Gautam Buddha Nagar district. By evening, there is a possibility of thunderstorms with winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour.

Gurugram: A huge increase in humidity levels is being seen in Cyber City Gurugram. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of thunderstorms here. In view of waterlogging in low-lying areas like Narsinghpur and Subhash Chowk, the Municipal Corporation has been instructed to be alert in advance.

Ghaziabad and Faridabad: In these two cities too, the sky will be covered with dark clouds and due to intermittent heavy showers, the day temperature may drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature in Delhi for the last two days was between 34 to 36 degrees Celsius, due to which the extreme humidity was making the condition of the people miserable. Meteorologists say that as soon as this new phase of rain starts, the maximum temperature will fall to around 30 to 32 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature will also remain between 24 to 25 degrees Celsius. With the coolness in the air, Delhiites will once again feel the pleasant weather. Apart from this, the Air Quality Index (AQI), which had reached ‘Moderate’ category (130-150) after the rains stopped in recent days, will improve after the rains and will come back to ‘Satisfactory’ level.
As the movement of foreign guests, security convoys and special representatives continues due to the BRICS summit in Delhi, the risk of road blockage may increase due to waterlogging due to rain and strong winds. Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory for motorists:

People traveling on Central Delhi, ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Mathura Road and Ring Road should choose alternative routes in case of waterlogging.

Two-wheeler drivers should avoid stopping in underpasses filled with water during rains and take shelter at safe places.
According to the experts of the Meteorological Center, this fortnight of September is a very important period before the formal withdrawal of Monsoon from Delhi-NCR. The effect of dry winds is starting from some parts of Rajasthan and Punjab, but due to the seasonal system of the Bay of Bengal, this rain is drenching the plains of North India. This unstable and cloudy weather is expected to continue for the next three-four days, after which the sky will gradually clear completely and a light pink coolness will start in the morning and evening.
