An important meeting of the Jawahar Bhawan Indira Bhawan Employees Federation was held in the capital Lucknow on Saturday, August 1st, under the chairmanship of Federation President Satish Kumar Pandey. The meeting discussed in detail the demand to increase the retirement age of state employees from 60 to 62 years. Federation President Satish Kumar Pandey and Executive General Secretary Sushil Kumar Bachcha stated that due to delays in the recruitment process in various departments across the state, a large number of posts are lying vacant.
At the same time, thousands of employees are continuously retiring, increasing the workload of existing employees, while the lack of experienced personnel is causing delays in the implementation of departmental schemes and public welfare programs. They stated that if the retirement age of state employees is increased from 60 to 62 years, like that of teachers, the government will continue to receive the services of experienced and skilled employees for an additional two years. This will ensure continuity in administrative work, increase departmental efficiency, and significantly alleviate the problems caused by vacant posts.
Federation officials said that this demand has been raised by various employee organizations for a long time. Considering the current need for experienced employees, the state government should take a positive decision on this issue. The meeting unanimously decided to send a letter to the Chief Minister demanding that the retirement age of state employees be raised from 60 to 62. The Federation expressed hope that the government would consider this demand soon, keeping in mind employee interests and administrative needs.
