Demand to declare cow as national animal: Muslim Congress leader sent memorandum to President and PM

A very interesting and big statement has come out from the political circles of Madhya Pradesh. A senior Congress leader of the state has advocated declaring cow as the national animal of India. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary Mohammad Omar Qasmi has submitted a memorandum in this regard directly to the country’s President and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Qasmi says that cow is not just an animal, but is the strong backbone of our Indian culture, age-old tradition and rural economy. In such a situation, its conservation and promotion should be included in the national priority of the government.

In fact, when this demand, which is usually raised by right-wing organizations, was raised by a Muslim leader of Congress, the matter came into limelight. Qasmi has explained in great detail in his memorandum why the cow should get this special status. He said that since ancient times, cow has held a very special and respectable place in Indian society. Be it farming or milk production, the contribution of cow on every front has been invaluable.

Rural economy and basis of organic farming

The Congress Secretary stressed that the role of cow in saving and growing the rural economy of the country cannot be ignored. He said that milk, curd and ghee obtained from cow are our main sources of nutrition. Apart from this, in today’s era when there is talk of chemical free farming, then options like organic fertilizer and energy production made from cow dung are proving to be a boon for the farmers. According to Qasmi, declaring cow as the national animal will give a new strength to this entire system.

Respect for ‘mother form’ and cultural heritage

Referring to the religious and social aspects related to cow in Indian society, Mohammad Omar Qasmi said that in our culture cow has always been given the status of mother (maternal form). All the religious and social traditions of the country are woven around it. In fact, considering the cultural, economic and social importance of the cow, the time has come to officially declare it the national animal of India.

Expecting positive steps from the central government

It is being told that through this memorandum, Omar Qasmi has urged the Central Government to consider this demand very seriously and take a major decision as soon as possible. He believes that as soon as the cow gets the status of national animal, a new awareness will be created in the country regarding its conservation and the feeling of respect for it will become stronger in the society. Now it remains to be seen what is the stand of the Central Government on this political and cultural demand of the Congress leader.
