A fresh report has claimed that actors Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur have reportedly ended their relationship after months of dating rumours.
The reported breakup came after the two actors were linked together for a long time. According to media reports, the reason behind the reported split was not known.
Dating rumours surrounding Dhanush and Mrunal had first surfaced in 2025. The speculation gained attention after they were seen together at the premiere of Mrunal’s film Son of Sardaar 2.
At the premiere of Son of Sardaar 2 last year, Dhanush’s appearance seemed like a friendly gesture. However, it quickly turned into something much bigger, as netizens began linking the actor to a possible affair with Mrunal Thakur.
However, the film’s female lead has now explained how it all happened and also addressed the Valentine’s Day wedding rumours.
Speaking while promoting her new release Do Deewane Seher Mein, the Hi Nanna actress said she has long admired the actor.
“Dhanush sir. I mean, after watching Raayan, Maari, Raanjhanaa, and Captain Miller, I am a big fan of his. Oh my god, Asuran is like…I can watch it multiple times. He’s such an institution,” she said.
At the time, a source had reportedly claimed that the two were dating. The source said, “Yes, it’s true that they are dating. But it’s too new and they’ve no plans of making their relationship official before the public or the media.”
Earlier this year, rumours about a possible wedding between the two actors also circulated on social media. The speculation grew after AI-generated images showing them in traditional South Indian wedding outfits went viral online.
However, Mrunal later addressed the reports and stated that Dhanush was “just a good friend.”
The marriage rumours were later dismissed. A source close to the actors told HT City, “Mrunal is not getting married next month. This is a rumour that has caught wind for no reason.”
Dhanush was previously married to Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth. The couple announced their separation in 2022 after 18 years of marriage. They have two sons, Yatra and Linga.
Neither Dhanush nor Mrunal Thakur had issued any public statement regarding the reported breakup .
