Didi has not lost, democracy was looted…. Akhilesh Yadav met Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata, targeted BJP and Election Commission

Shiv Shankar Savita- After the results of West Bengal Assembly elections, the turmoil in the politics of the state has intensified. Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav reached Kolkata on Thursday, where he met Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee at her residence and Abhishek Banerjee. During this meeting, Akhilesh Yadav not only gave emotional support to Mamata Banerjee, but also raised serious questions on the election process while making a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). While addressing the media after meeting Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav said that ‘Didi’ has not lost, but a conspiracy has been hatched against her. He alleged that whatever BJP did in Bengal, it was first tested in the by-elections in Uttar Pradesh and then replicated on a large scale in Bengal. Akhilesh said, “Whatever has happened in Bengal has deeply hurt democracy. BJP is a party of feudal thinking, which cannot see any woman moving forward.”

Questions on use of force and security

Expressing grief over the incidents of vandalism and arson in TMC offices, Akhilesh Yadav cornered the Election Commission and the Union Home Minister. He said that during the elections, more than 3 lakh security forces were sent to Bengal, of which a large number were soldiers from UP and Bihar. He asked, “When such a large number of forces were present, whose responsibility was it to provide security? BJP and the Election Commission together have worked to rob democracy.” He claimed that BJP has won in the areas where more votes were counted.

New script of opposition unity

According to PTI report, in this meeting between Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee that lasted for about an hour, the post-election political situation and future strategy were discussed in detail. Akhilesh made it clear that he is committed to opposition unity against BJP and further strengthening the ‘INDIA’ alliance. Despite the defeat in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has also reiterated her resolve that she will intensify the fight against BJP at the country level. During the press conference, Akhilesh Yadav also commented on BJP’s woman Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Terming her as a ‘half-baked Chief Minister’, he said that BJP only pretends to respect women, whereas in reality it is unable to accept women leadership.
