Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that I think what I said is my thinking. Any statements about the Pope were unacceptable. I expressed my solidarity with Pope Francis and I still do so. Let me tell you, I would not feel comfortable in a society where religious leaders do what political leaders say. At least not in this part of the world. Meloni’s main point of criticism was the fundamental separation between church and state. He argued that political leaders should not expect religious figures to serve as extensions of their administration. The prime minister stressed that his disagreement with Trump was not merely personal, but a matter of principle related to the dignity of the papacy. His comments came in response to increasing criticism over Trump’s recent social media activities. These activities also included an AI-generated photo in which Trump was shown in a religious form like Jesus Christ. The post sparked widespread debate and drew strong reactions from various sections of the public and even from some of his own supporters. Due to which this post had to be removed. Along with this controversial picture, Trump also gave some statements targeting Pope Leo. He criticized the Pope’s reported comments regarding international geopolitical tensions, particularly the US-Israeli stance and developments involving Iran.
