Formerly known as Bank Royal, which BCA acquired in 2019 in a push into digital banking, BCA Digital launched its blu mobile banking app in 2021 and became profitable in 2023 under Budiati’s leadership, according to the list, which spotlights 20 trailblazing women business leaders in Asia.
The digital lender has since expanded substantially, with net profit more than quadrupling to Rp213.4 billion (US$11.8 million), loans rising by 85% to Rp8.6 trillion and deposits jumping 59% to Rp14.3 trillion.
It is now the country’s sixth-largest digital bank with a client base of 3.1 million as of December 2025, according to Forbes.

BCA Digital has recorded growth despite a sluggish domestic economy and stiff competition from rivals such as SeaBank, owned by Singapore billionaire Forrest Li’s Sea, and Bank Jago, backed by ride-hailing and payments giant Gojek.
Younger Indonesians, particularly Gen Zers and millennials, have been key to the digital lender’s expansion as it positions itself as a mobile-first banking experience tailored to their financial needs.
Budiati said last July, when blu first surpassed 3 million users, that these segments made up more than 90% of the platform’s user base.
“We believe the next decade of banking will be defined by trust, access, and personal relevance,” Lanny told Asian Business Review. “Blu is here to accompany young Indonesians through each phase of their financial growth—not just as a bank, but as a partner for life.”
Before heading BCA Digital, Lanny had started as a management trainee at BCA in 1991 and spent a few years at other lenders in Indonesia before rejoining in 2001 and taking on roles including BCA’s regional head of West Java.
BCA, Indonesia’s largest bank by market capitalization, is more than half owned by the Hartonos, the richest family in the country, through their holding company Dwimuria Investama Andalan, according to Bloomberg.
Billionaire Robert Budi Hartono became the bank’s sole controlling shareholder earlier this year after his brother Michael Bambang Hartono passed away. Robert is also Indonesia’s richest individual, with an estimated net worth of US$11.9 billion as of Nov. 4.
