Disha Salian Case: The case of the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s former manager Disha Salian is once again in the headlines. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in the case related to Disha Salian’s death. In the FIR, the role of many people including former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s son and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, actors Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and Rhea Chakraborty has been kept under investigation.
The investigation of the case was handed over to the CBI by the Bombay High Court, after which the CBI registered the case about two weeks later. Will the secret of Sushant’s manager Disha Salian’s death come out after 6 years?
Under which sections was the case registered in the FIR?
Sections related to serious charges like murder, gangrape, criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence and giving false information have been included in the CBI FIR.
It has also been said in the FIR that the role of some people in the case needs to be investigated. These include Aditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Rhea Chakraborty and doctors and staff associated with the alleged delay in Disha’s post-mortem. It is noteworthy that the name of a person under investigation in the FIR does not in itself prove a crime. The truth of the allegations will be decided during the investigation.
What was said in the FIR regarding Uddhav Thackeray?
The CBI FIR mentions the allegations against the then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and others for their role in the alleged conspiracy and subsequent attempt to suppress the case.
The FIR also calls for investigation into the role of the concerned government officials and policemen. It calls for an investigation into points like alleged suppression or destruction of documents related to the case, manipulation of official records and alleged misuse of government resources.
When did Disha Salian die?
Disha Salian died on 8 June 2020 after falling from the 14th floor of a building in Mumbai’s Malad area. Just a few days after his death, Sushant Singh Rajput was also found dead in his Bandra home.
After Disha’s death, Mumbai Police had filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) regarding it. Police investigation later ruled his death a suicide. However, Disha’s father Satish Salian had approached the Bombay High Court last year raising questions.
Disha’s father had made serious allegations
Disha Salian’s father Satish Salian had filed a petition in the court regarding the role and alleged negligence of the police in the investigation of his daughter’s death. He had alleged that his daughter was murdered after gangrape and an attempt was made to hide the matter.
As part of the CBI investigation, Satish Salian also recorded his statement before the agency last week. His statement accused former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Aditya Thackeray and others of alleged conspiracy and subsequent suppression of the case.
Bombay High Court had raised questions on the investigation
On September 2, the Bombay High Court had ordered a CBI investigation into the death of Disha Salian. The order came on a petition by Disha’s father, in which the issue of alleged lapses in the Mumbai Police investigation was raised.
The court had made serious comments regarding the investigation of the case and said that instead of providing answers to many questions, the investigation raises new questions. The court had also mentioned alleged discrepancies in the investigation.
It was also put before the court that Disha Salian’s family was not provided copies of her post-mortem report and ADR even after six years.
CBI had asked for documents related to the case from the police.
After taking over the investigation, CBI had asked Mumbai Police to provide all the documents and records related to Disha Salian’s death. Now after the FIR is registered, the agency will investigate different aspects related to the case and the role of the people concerned.
