Tezzbuzz Desk- On the occasion of Janmashtami, devotees of Lord Krishna observe fast with devotion. Many people eat fruits the whole day and break the fast at night after the birth of Kanha. Suddenly eating heavy or large meals after having an empty stomach for a long time can put pressure on the digestive system. This can cause problems like gas, indigestion, acidity, heaviness in the stomach, nausea or vomiting. Therefore, it is important to be a little careful about eating and drinking while breaking the fast.
Start Parana with a light meal
It is not considered right to eat puri, kachori, pakoda or very spicy food directly after a long fast. First of all, break the fast by taking a small amount of Prasad or light fruit. After this, you can wait for some time and eat easily digestible things. Avoid eating food with a full stomach.
Stay away from fried foods
Many types of dishes are prepared in homes on Janmashtami, but eating food with excess ghee, oil and spices immediately after the fast can increase the burden on the stomach. Limit the quantity of puri, kachori and other fried items. Light vegetables, curd or other easily digestible options would be better.
Even if you can't control yourself after seeing sweets, eat them carefully.
On Janmashtami, sweets made of butter-mishri, panjiri, panchamrit, pedas, kheer and dry fruits are offered. It is natural to take these as Prasad during Parana, but eating too many sweets at once can make the stomach feel heavy. Eating too much sweets can also increase blood sugar rapidly, so keep the quantity of sweets less.
Do not take tea or coffee immediately after eating food.
After breaking the fast, many people have the habit of drinking tea or coffee. But taking tea or coffee immediately after meals on an empty stomach may cause some people to complain of acidity, gas or burning sensation in the stomach. Therefore, it is better to avoid taking tea and coffee immediately.
Do not eat more than necessary
After fasting for the whole day, hunger may increase and a person may eat more than necessary after seeing the dishes kept in front of him. But this mistake can later cause stomach problems. Eat slowly and eat balanced meals instead of filling your stomach completely.
Do not go to bed immediately after Parana
The breaking of fast on Janmashtami often happens late at night. Avoid the habit of sleeping immediately after eating food. After meal, you can take a light walk for some time. If walking is not possible, sit comfortably for a while. This can help in digesting food.
The method of fasting and parana may vary according to the health and tradition of the person. If a person has diabetes, stomach or digestive problems, it is better to consult a doctor before fasting for a long time or making changes in the diet during Parana.
