Pitru Paksha is starting from 27th September 2026, which will end on 10th October. During Pitru Paksha, a person should remember his ancestors and perform procedures like Tarpan and Pind Daan. What to do in Pitru Paksha?
Offer Panchabali Bhog-During Pitru Paksha, a person should prepare food for the ancestors, which is divided into 5 parts and offered. In Panchabali Bhog, food is offered to cows, crows, dogs, ants and gods. According to religious belief, if Panchabali is not offered, the ancestors remain hungry.
To offer tarpan-According to religious experts, a person should offer tarpan to his ancestors during Pitru Paksha. By putting black sesame seeds and Kusha in a brass pot, water should be offered facing south.

donate-During this time, a person should call Brahmins to his home and feed them. Along with this, the person should donate grains and clothes to others, so that the ancestors are pleased.
Maintain a virtuous life-During Pitru Paksha a person should adopt a celibate life. Along with this, a person should avoid using harsh words.
What not to do?
Do not do auspicious work-During this period, a person should not do auspicious things like marriage, engagement, buying a new car and house warming.
Tamasic food-According to religious experts, a person should avoid consumption of garlic, onion, meat and alcohol.

Don't argue-According to religious experts, during Pitru Paksha, ancestors come to the house, hence a person should avoid discord in the house.
Do not offer tarpan without date-During this period, a person should perform Shraddha according to the date of death of his father. Performing Shraddha without a date does not give peace to the souls of the ancestors.
