Digital Bust. Controversy has arisen over wearing of burqa in the Government Medical College and Hospital located in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. Many nursing interns protested after allegations of sending out a nursing student who arrived wearing a burqa in the labor room of the gynecology department. The students boycotted work and demonstrated in the hospital premises and complained against the head of the department, Dr. Madhu Chib.

Controversy started due to nursing intern's allegations
The protesting students allege that Dr. Madhu Chib asked a nursing student to leave the labor room because she was wearing a mask. An intern claimed that the next day two other girl students were also made to stand outside the labor room for the same reason. The students called it interference in their religious attire.
After the matter escalated, the hospital administration intervened and ended the protest. Along with this, a seven-member committee has been formed to investigate the entire incident. The committee has been asked to investigate the circumstances of the complaint and dispute.

Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent in-charge of Doda GMC Hospital, Dr. Irfan Tasaduq said that the reason for the dispute could be a misunderstanding. According to him, Dr. Chib had asked the students to fix loose clothes and wear a gown over it as per the protocol of labor room and operation theatre.
The hospital administration says that to prevent infection in sensitive places like labor rooms and operation theatres, all employees including doctors have to follow the prescribed hygiene rules. The complete picture of the dispute will become clear only after the investigation committee's report comes.
