The U.S. dollar rose marginally against the Vietnamese dong Thursday morning.
Vietcombank sold the greenback 0.04% higher at VND26,100. On the black market the dollar was steady at VND25,760.
Globally, currency markets treaded water on Thursday as investors weighed a fresh surge in oil prices and global bond yields, while the dollar found little support ahead of inflation readings that could shape the U.S. Federal Reserve’s policy outlook, Reuters reported.
The greenback found only marginal relief, easing against major peers after an earlier move higher. The euro and sterling both edged up, last at $1.1639 and $1.3555, respectively.
The yen also stood tall near a seven-month high, up roughly 0.1% at 153.35 ahead of an expected Bank of Japan rate hike next week.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies, gave up earlier gains and eased to 98.73.
