US President Donald Trump will visit India in early 2027. This information has been given by US Foreign Minister Marco Rubio. He said that he himself is going to come to India to finalize the preparations for President Trump’s proposed visit to India.
Rubio also indicated that the long-running bilateral trade deal between India and the US has now reached its final stages and could be finalized soon.
Preparations for India tour intensified
Marco Rubio said that President Trump will visit India early next year and preparations are going on between the two countries for this visit.
“I am going to India to finalize the President’s visit to India,” he said.
“The relationship between Trump and Modi is very strong”
Rubio also openly appreciated the personal relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump.
He said that there are good relations between the two leaders and this is giving new strength to the India-US strategic partnership.
According to Rubio, the two countries are also continuously working together on energy, trade and strengthening the global supply chain.
Trade deal may be finalized soon
The US Secretary of State expressed confidence that the proposed trade deal between India and America will be completed soon.
He said that most of the issues have been agreed between the two countries and only some technical points remain to be discussed.
Praise for India’s refining capacity
Rubio also praised India’s energy potential.
He said that India is among the few countries in the world which have strong capacity to refine heavy crude oil.
American ambassador also gave positive signals
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore also said that India and the US are very close to a comprehensive bilateral trade agreement.
He said that only a few issues remain to be discussed between the two countries and the agreement can be finalized soon.
Gore said India and the US are “natural partners with immense potential” and the strong personal relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump is the foundation of the two countries’ partnership.
Trump’s last visit to India was in 2020
Donald Trump had earlier visited India in February 2020. During that time, he participated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the “Namaste Trump” program organized at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After that, there were several telephone conversations between the two leaders. Recently both the leaders also met during the G-7 summit held in France.
Trade was also discussed in the G-7 meeting
During the meeting in France, both the leaders had discussed the India-US trade agreement in detail.
After the meeting, Trump described Prime Minister Modi as a “tough but effective negotiator” and also expressed his desire to visit India.
In the same meeting, Prime Minister Modi also raised the issue of safety of Indian sailors working in the Gulf of Oman and Hormuz area with the US President.
Confidence was also given on defense cooperation
In response to a question asked about India-US defense relations, Trump had said that if there is any attack on India, America will stand with it.
He also praised the leadership ability of Prime Minister Modi and said that India has emerged as a strong power at the global level today.
Experts believe that if the proposed trade deal is completed on time and Trump’s visit to India happens as per schedule, then it can prove to be an important step in giving a new direction to the economic, strategic and defense relations between the two countries.
