DPL 2026 Kicks Off as Central Delhi Kings Face Purani Dilli 6 in Season Opener

The Delhi Premier League (DPL) is all set to witness its thrilling season as the DPL 2026 will commence on Friday, July 31, with a match between Central Delhi Kings Vs Purani Dilli 6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here. The DPL fixtures are scheduled to begin this weekend with a game to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. This is going to be one of the most anticipated and exciting T20 leagues for the fans of India’s capital city, which has been waiting for this event for almost a month.

Before the start of the tournament, the fans can enjoy the opening ceremony starting at 5:30 PM, where the star singers Sunanda Sharma and Sukhbir Singh will be performing.

Teams eager to make a strong start in DPL 2026

Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley said the league has been growing with each edition and the upcoming fixtures are expected to bring high-class cricket and thrilling encounters.

“We are happy to announce the start of a new season of the Delhi Premier League. The tournament has witnessed massive growth in the previous edition, and we have seen an outpouring of support from players, franchises, and fans. We are positive that this season will witness a lot of excitement, high-class cricket and have a great time at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as fans will come out in droves. We look forward to all the fan support this season,” said Jaitley.

Central Delhi Kings captain Yash Dhull showed immense positivity towards the preparations and expressed confidence in his team’s balanced blend of young and experienced players.

“We have trained hard for these past few days, and we are all excited about the new season. We have a great combination of both young and experienced cricketers in the team, and we aim to focus on fearless cricket and consistency while giving our fans the best on the cricket pitch,” said Dhull.

Purani Dilli 6 skipper Anuj Rawat expressed satisfaction with his team’s preparations and said that they have built a good combination of players.

“The tournament has been gaining popularity every year, and we are excited to kickstart our campaign. We have prepared well for the tournament, and we have created a good blend of young and experienced players. We look forward to entertaining the fans and showcasing positive cricket while fighting hard in all the matches,” added Rawat.

Meanwhile, the men’s cricket tournament will witness the final on August 31, and August 20 will be the opening day of the women’s tournament. Moreover, there will be an official reserve day on September 3 as the final date for the women’s competition, which will conclude on September 2. The women’s matches will also take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, while the men’s and women’s fixtures will continue to be played at the cricket academy ground.

The popularity of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) has only grown with every edition, and it will bring over a month of exciting T20 action as one of the country’s premier domestic T20 competitions.
