Draymond Green fuels Nikola Jokic-to-Warriors trade rumors

The Golden State Warriors couldn’t strike gold this offseason — again.

However, the front office continues to insist that they’re being aggressive in their pursuit of high-end talent to help Stephen Curry.

That has led to countless rumors and speculation about stars who might potentially take their talents to the Bay Area, including Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic.

While there didn’t seem to be much traction in that front, Draymond Green’s latest comments on his podcast may have stirred the pot.

Draymond Green hints at potential Nikola Jokic move

“Got the Joker coming into Dub Nation, San Francisco,” Green said. “There’s been a lot of talk about Joker in San Francisco as of late, I’ve been reading. I’m sure they’ll be a ton of talk by then, by Christmas Day, depending on how the teams are doing.”

Jokic is entering the final year of his contract, though he has a player option worth a whopping $62 million for next season.

Even for someone who doesn’t act like most NBA superstars, it’s hard to believe Jokic would even consider leaving that type of money on the table, so any move would most likely have to come via trade.

The Warriors have valuable picks, the No. 11 selection Yaxel Lendeborg and Jimmy Butler’s contract as potential trade assets for the salary cap-strained Nuggets.

Ironically, they could also offer Green, who didn’t get a no-trade clause in his new deal.
