Drishyam 3 trailer unveils darker chapter in Georgekutty’s life: WATCH

Kochi: The makers of Drishyam 3 unveiled the gripping trailer of the much-awaited thriller on Sunday, raising anticipation ahead of the film’s release later this month.

Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the third instalment of the hugely successful Drishyam franchise promises another intense and emotionally charged chapter in the life of Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal.

The trailer suggests that despite the passage of time, the shadows of the past continue to haunt Georgekutty and his family.

Georgekutty’s past refuses to stay buried

The trailer opens on an uneasy and tense note, immediately hinting that the case which changed Georgekutty’s life forever still lingers dangerously close.

One of the emotionally significant moments features Meena’s character Rani George questioning whether the family has truly escaped the consequences of the past.

Although Georgekutty appears respected and admired by people around him — including police officials impressed by his intelligence and strategic thinking — the trailer makes it clear that curiosity surrounding the old case has not faded.

Several mysterious characters are introduced, appearing determined to uncover hidden truths connected to the incident.

New mystery deepens suspense

The trailer also briefly references an unsettling “acid” incident, adding a fresh layer of mystery to the narrative.

While the filmmakers have carefully avoided revealing crucial plot details, the brief mention has already sparked intense speculation among fans regarding its connection to Georgekutty’s past.

The trailer suggests that a larger conspiracy may slowly be unfolding around Georgekutty and his family, raising the stakes significantly compared to the previous films.

Emotional conflict takes centre stage

One of the most striking moments in the trailer shows Georgekutty reflecting on the lengths he went to in order to protect his family.

In an emotionally heavy dialogue, he expresses fear that his daughters may one day begin to view him as a criminal because of his actions.

Georgekutty himself appears conflicted, questioning whether he has crossed moral boundaries in his desperate attempt to safeguard his loved ones.

The psychological burden carried by the character remains one of the central themes teased in the trailer.

Trailer ends on shocking note

The suspense intensifies towards the end of the trailer when Georgekutty receives a disturbing update on his mobile phone.

The moment visibly unsettles him, but the makers deliberately avoid revealing what exactly he sees, preserving the mystery for audiences ahead of the release.

Fans of the franchise have praised the trailer for maintaining the suspense-driven storytelling style that made the earlier Drishyam films critically acclaimed and commercially successful.

Strong supporting cast returns

Apart from Mohanlal and Meena, the film features:

  • Ansiba Hassan
  • Esther Anil
  • Asha Sharath
  • Siddique
  • Murali Gopy

The film is produced by Aashirvad Cinemas founder Antony Perumbavoor.

Release scheduled for May 21

Drishyam 3 is scheduled for theatrical release on May 21, 2026, coinciding with Mohanlal’s birthday celebrations.

The Drishyam franchise remains one of Indian cinema’s most successful thriller series, known for its tightly woven screenplay, suspense, and emotional storytelling.

With the latest trailer promising darker twists, emotional dilemmas, and new secrets, expectations surrounding the film have risen significantly among audiences across the country.
