Saudi Arabia's conflict with Iran-backed Houthi rebel group in Yemen is getting increasingly dangerous. Rebel groups continue to fire ballistic missiles into Saudi Arabia's west coast. In this situation, the Houthis carried out a drone attack on Mecca, the holy city of Islam. However, Saudi claims that the drone was destroyed in the air. India has strongly condemned the attack in Mecca. On the other hand, the Houthis claimed that a Saudi F-15 warplane was shot down in Yemen.
Saudi has claimed that the Houthis launched a drone attack on Mecca on Tuesday. This is the first time in a decade that the holy shrine of Muslims has been attacked. However, the drone was destroyed before entering Mecca's airspace. However, they did not provide any specific information on how close the drone came to the city. However, the Houthis rejected this claim of Saudi. “Our targets were Saudi oil depots and military bases, which are far from Mecca,” Yahya Sari, a military spokesman for Yemen's rebel group, said on Wednesday. He also said, “No one should be misled by the false rumors being spread by the criminal Saudi regime about the attack on Mecca.”
On the other hand, India strongly condemned the Mecca attack. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal issued a statement on Wednesday. There, he said, “We are concerned about the drone attack near Mecca. We strongly condemn the attack on the sovereign territory of Saudi Arabia, the attempt to endanger the lives of ordinary citizens and civilian infrastructure.” He further said, “Mecca is of special importance to Muslims around the world. Attacks near it are very worrying. We hope that peace and stability will return to the region soon.”
