DU Admission 2026: Cut-off list is over, now admission will be decided on the basis of ‘minimum allocation score’
There will be a big change in the admission process of Delhi University (DU) this year. While lakhs of students are waiting for the traditional cut-off list after the declaration of CUET UG 2026 result, the university has made it clear that the cut-off will not be released like before. Instead, the basis for admission will be the Minimum Allocation Score (MAS), which will be released after each allocation stage.
CSAS changed the admission process
Before the implementation of CUET, admission to DU was based on class 12 marks and colleges used to release separate cut-off lists. The cut-off in many prestigious colleges and popular courses used to reach up to 99 percent.
Now the entire admission process is centralized under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). Students are allotted seats on the basis of their CUET rank, category, availability of seats and priority list of preferred colleges and courses.
What is the minimum allocation score?
Minimum Allocation Score (MAS) will be the most important indicator in the new system. It is the minimum score on which the final seat is allotted to a particular college and course.
The university will make these data public after each stage of admission. This will help students to understand what score is required for admission in which college and course.
Last year’s figures showed tough competition
MAS data released last year had presented a clear picture of increasing competition in DU. The minimum allotment score for BA (Hons) Political Science at Hindu College was 950.58, while at Miranda House it was recorded at 925.98.
Similarly, in Hindu College, seats were allotted up to the score of 914.38 for History (Hons) and 912.22 for B.Com (Hons). In many prestigious institutes including Hansraj College, Miranda House, seats for popular courses were closed at more than 850 to 900 marks.
There will be tough competition this year also
Education experts believe that 2026 will also see tough competition for admission to top colleges and popular courses. However, the final minimum allocation score will be decided based on the number of students, seats available, reservation policy and overall performance of CUET. In such a situation, students will have to keep an eye on the MAS released at each allotment stage instead of the cut-off list.
