Counting of votes for Delhi University Students Union Election 2026 is underway. After the 12th round, NSUI's Vijay Meena has taken the lead over ABVP's Yash Dabas for the post of President. Independent candidates are ahead on the post of Vice President, while ABVP is leading on the post of Secretary and NSUI is leading on the post of Joint Secretary.
Tezzbuzz Desk– Counting of votes is continuing on Saturday after the voting held on Friday for Delhi University Students Union Elections 2026. In the initial round, ABVP candidate was leading for the post of President, but after the 10th round the trend of the contest changed. After the 12th round of vote counting, NSUI's Vijay Meena is leading for the post of President with 14,530 votes, while ABVP's Yash Dabas is behind.
Independent candidate Dipanshu Shaukeen is leading for the post of Vice President with 18,943 votes. ABVP's Riya Chhawadi is leading on the post of Secretary, while NSUI's Gopal Choudhary is leading on the post of Joint Secretary.
Voting for DUSU elections was held at 52 polling stations of Delhi University. During this period a total of 40.46 percent voting was recorded. Voting was conducted from 8 am to 1 pm in regular colleges and from 3 pm to 7:30 pm in evening colleges.
This time a total of 19 candidates are in the fray for four major posts of the central panel. 7 candidates have contested for the post of President, 5 for the post of Vice President, 4 for the post of Secretary and 4 for the post of Joint Secretary.
In view of the counting of votes, strict security arrangements have been made around the strong room and counting centre. Apart from North District Police, police from nearby districts and traffic police have also been deployed. According to officials, about 1000 policemen are handling the security arrangements. Along with this, monitoring is also being done through paramilitary forces and drones.
In the last DUSU elections, ABVP had won three out of four key posts, while NSUI got the vice president post. This time too a tough competition is being seen between the two student organizations.
At the same time, Delhi High Court has banned taking out victory procession in the matter related to DUSU elections. Show cause notices have also been issued to about 140 candidates in cases related to violence during the election campaign. In such a situation, after the declaration of results, the winning candidates and their supporters will not be allowed to take out procession.
