Tezzbuzz Desk- After the interim order of the Election Commission, Rahul Gandhi targeted BJP and EC regarding TMC and its election symbol. He also mentioned the case of TMC after Shiv Sena and NCP and called it an issue related to democracy and voters.
Amid the ongoing controversy over the name and election symbol of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has raised questions on BJP and the Election Commission. Rahul Gandhi said in a social media post that after Shiv Sena and NCP, now in the case of TMC also a dispute has come to the fore regarding the party and election symbol. He alleged that first division is made among the political parties and then the decision is taken regarding the election symbol. Rahul Gandhi called it not only a matter related to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, but an issue related to every political party and voter. He said that this fight is related to people who talk about free and fair elections.
Actually, the Election Commission has implemented the interim arrangement due to the dispute between the two rival factions of TMC. The Commission has barred both the groups from using the name 'All India Trinamool Congress' and the reserved election symbol 'flower-grass' in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly by-election. The Commission has asked both the groups to give three alternative names and choice of free election symbols by 11 am on September 18. After this, a name and an election symbol will be allotted to each faction. This arrangement will remain in force until the final decision on the dispute.
Mamata Banerjee faction has objected to the commission's order, while the other faction has said to accept the interim arrangement. The final decision on the dispute will be taken after detailed proceedings of the Election Commission.
