Durand Cup 2026: East Bengal FC won the Durand Cup title after 22 years. They defeated Mohun Bagan Super Giant 4-1 in a derby match organized at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday (August 23). And after this victory, the enthusiasm of the red-yellow supporters has practically hit like a tsunami wave.
It has been alleged that the East Bengal fans started behaving indecently after the match ended. He started abusing in an inaudible language outside the stadium. But most importantly, when the team bus of Mohun Bagan was leaving the field, a group of supporters started showing shoes to the green-maroon footballers. This incident has created a great sensation.
Mohun Bagan boycotted the press conference
However, it was expected that Mohunbagan Super Giants coach Panagiotis Dilamperis might face the media after the match was over. In which strategy he has fallen behind, he may admit in front of everyone. But, the Spanish coach of the Mariners did not walk that way. He boycotted the press conference. The issue has already started a storm.
East Bengal’s Dapute performance
There is no obstacle to say, East Bengal FC practically played with the Bagan defense in this match. In the first half of the match, Edmond’s green-maroon decorated garden was destroyed by the storm.
