In view of the continuously increasing scorching heat and heat wave alert in the district, the administration has taken a relief decision for the school children. District Collector Alok Ranjan has issued orders to change the timings of schools and Anganwadi centres.
According to the new order, from April 25, 2026, school timings for students from pre-primary to class 8 in all government and private schools of the district will be from 7:30 am to 11:30 am. This arrangement will remain in force until further orders. Along with this, the same timing has been implemented at Anganwadi centers also.
The administration has clarified that this revised timing will be only for students, while the timings of teachers and other staff will remain the same and they will have to render their services as per the scheduled time.
This decision has been taken on the basis of the proposal of the Chief District Education Officer (Composite Education), so that small children can be kept safe from the effects of extreme heat. After the heat wave warning was issued by the Meteorological Department, the administration took immediate steps and made this change.
Experts believe that a sharp rise in temperature during the afternoon can adversely affect the health of children. In such a situation, by running schools in the morning shift, children will be protected from heatstroke and extreme heat.
The administration has also appealed to the parents to provide adequate water to their children, dress them in light clothes and avoid going out in the hot sun. This step has been taken giving priority to the safety and health of children.
