Season 2 of the iconic TV serial Because mother-in-law is always a daughter-in-law has come to an end after 450 episodes. Producer Ektaa Kapoor and lead actor Smriti Irani bid goodbye to the show, reflecting their emotional attachment to it.
The reboot, which had originally been planned for just 167 episodes, wrapped on October 20 after more than a year on air.
The 51-year-old maker marked the occasion on Instagram with a video featuring moments from both seasons, alongside a note that said everything about what the show means to her.
“Last ep of Kyuki today! Some goodbyes are hard but there is love in my heart for Kyuki forever. It’s made me who I am. It’s time to say bye to the show that we were to do for 167 eps but ended up doing for 450 eps. Love always for my Kyuki. Until we meet again,” she wrote.
The 50-year-old, who returned as Tulsi Virani after nearly 17 years away from the role, responded to Ektaa’s post calling it “an emotion, a journey of 26 years… till we meet again.”
She also shared her own farewell post, reflecting on the ride. “It was nothing short of a roller coaster of emotions. Memories made, stories revisited, and new chapters woven into a journey that explored both familiar and uncharted flavours of life… somewhere in that beautiful churn of emotions, nostalgia and new beginnings, we created little pieces of history that will be cherished long after the curtains fall,” she wrote, ending with — “हम है राही प्यार के फिर मिलेंगे चलते चलते.”
The original Because had run from 2000 to 2008 and became one of Indian television’s most iconic shows.
The sequel, which premiered on Star Plus and JioHotstar in July 2025, also brought back Amar Upadhyay as Mihir Virani, Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan as Karan and Nandini, and Shakti Anand as Hemant Virani.
