England put on a clinical show at the home of cricket, securing a 2-0 series victory over Pakistan with a huge 194-run win in the second Test. The visitors were bundled out for 194 chasing down a mammoth target of 389, falling to another well-aimed English pace attack.
The standout performer was seam bowler Ollie Robinson, who put on a masterclass in relentless accuracy to finish with figures of 8 for 35. Pakistan's middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel stood tall with a fighting 97 but received little support as his side suffered their second heavy defeat of the tour.
England's Movement in the WTC Standings
The victory helped England to gain a rich 12 points in the WTC 2025-27 cycle, giving them a total of 62 points from 15 matches. However, they remain in the lead thanks to the heavy slow over-rate penalty, which reduced their PCT to 34.44. Nevertheless, they jumped to sixth place after overtaking Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Pakistan remains at the lowest level of the rankings with a PCT of 16.67, having lost six of their eight matches in the cycle.

India remains in the fifth spot after England's surge
India's position in the final five rankings is not affected by England's surge. The team maintains a PCT of 51.52 in the standings, with 68 points in 11 matches, including 5 wins, 4 losses, and 2 draws, putting them comfortably ahead of the lower half of the table.
India has seven Tests left in their cycle, giving them greater control over their chances of qualifying for the WTC final. England, on the other hand, only has a single match left in their current series, the third Test against Pakistan, starting on September 9 at Edgbaston.
