England beat Scotland by 38 runs to register their third consecutive win in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026

Delhi: In the important match of Group-B of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 played at Headingley Cricket Ground, England maintained its unbeaten streak by defeating Scotland by 38 runs. With this victory, England has strengthened its hold on the top position in the group by securing six points from three matches.

Earlier, England started their campaign with a win against Sri Lanka at Edgbaston and then defeated Ireland in Hampshire.

England’s batting

England women’s team, who came to bat first, had a bad start. Scotland’s bowler Kirsty Gordon performed brilliantly and sent both England’s opening batsmen to the pavilion early. Amy Jones was out on the very first ball without opening the account, while Danny Wyatt-Hodge also got out cheaply and returned to the pavilion.

After this, Sophia Dunkley took over the innings and played a brilliant inning of 57 runs in 37 balls. He formed important partnerships first with Danny Wyatt-Hodge and then with Ellis Capsey. Capsi also contributed 40 runs. Captain Heather Knight scored 25 runs, but England needed a quick finish after her wicket fell at 139/5 in 16.3 overs.

In the last overs, Freya Kemp and Danny Gibson completely changed the course of the match by batting aggressively. Kemp scored 39 runs in 16 balls and Gibson scored 30 runs in 11 balls, adding 61 runs in just 21 balls. Due to this strong finish, England made a strong score of 200/5 in 20 overs.

Scotland’s ‘failed’ attempt

Chasing the target, the Scotland women’s team made an aggressive start, but Charlie Dean bowled economically and broke the opening partnership of 38 runs by dismissing the dangerous looking Katherine Fraser.

After this Sophie Ecclestone did wonders with the ball. She dismissed Scotland captain Katherine Bryce and then dismissed Darcy Carter. Scotland’s score became 64/3 and the team came under pressure.

Sarah Bryce tried to make a comeback by scoring 34 runs in 24 balls, but Linsey Smith gave a big blow to Scotland’s hopes by sending her to the pavilion. After this, there was a partnership of 47 runs for the seventh wicket between Pippa Sproul and Kirsty Gordon, but it was not enough for victory. The Scotland team could only reach 162/7 in the stipulated 20 overs.

England’s next match is against West Indies
