EPFO completes database modernization, new system CITES will make PF and pension services easier than before

New Delhi, 8 July. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has completed the transfer of records of all its members to the new centralized national database. This step has been taken under the ‘Centralized IT Enabled Services (CITES)’ project, which aims to provide fast, transparent and easy services to the members.

Now the application can be processed from any authorized office in the country.

After the implementation of the new system, EPFO ​​services will no longer be limited to any one regional office. The member’s application can be processed from any authorized office in the country.

With the new system, the interest amount will be deposited in the account sooner than before.

According to EPFO, with this new system the interest amount will be deposited in the account sooner than before. For the financial year 2025-26, 8.25 percent interest will be deposited in about 34 crore accounts. Members will be able to see interest information in their passbook till July 15. Earlier it used to take time till October-November for interest to be deposited.

Members will be able to view account information and other facilities on a single portal.

Under the new system, members will be able to see their PF account information, balance, claim status, pension related information and other facilities on a single portal. Earlier this information was available in different systems.

All documents will be automatically verified before claims are settled

All documents will be automatically verified before claims are settled. If there is any kind of shortage, the member will get information about it in advance. This will reduce the chances of claims being rejected.

Automatic claim settlement limit increased to Rs 5 lakh

EPFO has also increased the limit for automatic claim settlement. Now advance claims up to Rs 5 lakh of members with fully verified documents will be settled automatically. Earlier this limit was Rs 1 lakh.

Members will also get these facilities

  • If additional information is required during the claim process, EPFO ​​will seek information from the member through online mode. This will reduce the need for office visits and settlement of claims will be faster.
  • Under the new system, the claim amount will also be sent directly to the member’s bank account through the centralized payment system on the same day the claim is approved.
  • Transfer of PF account with Universal Account Number (UAN) linked to Aadhaar will now be done automatically upon change of job. There will be no need to submit separate application for this.

Pensioners will now be able to avail services from any EPFO ​​office in the country

Pensioners will also now be able to avail their services from any EPFO ​​office in the country and can take pension in any bank account. The facility to submit life certificate will also be available in any office. EPFO says that the new system will increase transparency in services, save time and members will get better facilities than before.
