Tripura Government Makes Rendition of Full ‘Vande Mataram’ and National Anthem Compulsory in Schools

AGARTALA, July 8: The Tripura government has made it mandatory for all schools in the state to begin their morning assemblies with the full rendition of the National Song, ‘Vande Mataram,’ followed by the National Anthem, ‘Jana sing mana,’ to promote patriotism, discipline and national consciousness among students.

The government order to this effect was issued on Tuesday for immediate implementation by all the eligible schools in the state. An official spokesperson of the state government said the initiative was aimed at promoting a stronger sense of national identity, civic responsibility and respect for national symbols among students through daily school assemblies.

Chief Minister Manik Saha said the decision was taken to strengthen patriotism, discipline and national consciousness among students. He added that all schools in Tripura would now begin their daily morning assemblies with the full rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’followed by the National Anthem, ‘Go and sing and love.’

The Chief Minister said the initiative aims to promote national unity, strengthen respect for India’s cultural heritage and encourage a greater sense of responsibility among students. He added that the move reflects the government’s commitment to nurturing aware, responsible and patriotic citizens.

According to the state government, the daily rendition of the national song and national anthem during school assemblies would help strengthen constitutional values, discipline, collective responsibility and national integration among students.

The directive is part of the Tripura government’s broader focus on value-based education and character building in schools. Officials said the initiative aimed at helping students develop a deeper appreciation of India’s history, cultural heritage and democratic values ​​through daily school assemblies.

The new guidelines will be implemented in government, government-aided and recognized educational institutions across the state, the spokesperson said.
