Firing Punjab DSP office: Before the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab, the issue of law and order and drugs is a hot topic in the state. Congress and BJP are targeting the AAP government led by CM Bhagwant Mann on these issues. At the same time, Congress has targeted the government over the firing outside the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) office in Jalalabad in Fazilka district. The party alleged that even the police are not safe under the mafia rule of Punjab.

Congress wrote on social media platform “Murder of 2 policemen; These incidents are proof that law and order has collapsed in the AAP government and the mafia nexus is fearlessly targeting the police.”
The opposition party further wrote, “The situation is so bad that policemen have been instructed not to wear uniform in public places and in private vehicles. It is clear that under the rule of the 'Fakewal Gang', leave alone the safety of the public, even the policemen are no longer safe here.” According to reports, some youths riding on 3-4 bikes came towards the DSP office from Lal Batti Chowk in Jalalabad of Fazilka district and opened fire there. After the incident, some youths entered the DSP office and were controlled by the police. Police have arrested two youths in this case.
The accused arrested after this incident have been identified as Sona Singh alias Sonu resident of Ameer Khas and Akash son of Paramjeet, Police Station Vairoka area. An illegal .32 bore pistol has been recovered from the accused. However, the rest managed to escape from the spot. Police investigation is ongoing in this matter.
