Issuing a statement on its official social media handle, the Indian Embassy in the UAE said, “Indian pilot Captain Smit is receiving excellent treatment and is progressing rapidly towards recovery. We are in constant touch with his family and local authorities and are providing them all possible assistance. We are extremely grateful for the excellent medical facilities provided to him by the UAE government and the medical administration there and wish him a speedy recovery.”
This entire incident took place on September 30, when a Flydubai flight going from Dubai to Tel Aviv was flying in the sky. During the flight, the Oman resident co-pilot on board the plane suddenly attacked Captain Smit Mosquito and tried to take control of the plane. According to the UAE Attorney General, the accused co-pilot Al-Hammami had made a dangerous attempt to seize control of the aircraft’s operating equipment while it was in the air, which has been classified as a terrorist act.
During this violent clash inside the cockpit, the plane descended to about 16,000 feet in just two minutes, causing panic among the passengers.
