Even today the capital will not get respite from the heat, yellow alert issued
The north-western areas of the country including Delhi do not seem to be getting any respite from the heat. The effect of scorching heat will continue here on Thursday (April 23) and it will not be easy for people to go out. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert till Friday. However, some states of the country like Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may see thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds between April 21 and 23.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heat wave is expected in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, East Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha between April 23 and 25. In such a situation, people have been advised to be alert and leave the house only when absolutely necessary, especially children and old people have been advised not to leave the house between 12 noon to 4 pm to avoid heatstroke.
Severe heat was seen here on Wednesday (April 22). The temperature here was recorded up to 42 degrees Celsius and a yellow alert had to be issued regarding the heat wave. Further increase may be seen in the coming days.
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Delhi today is expected to be between 41 to 43 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 23–25 degrees. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi and surrounding areas even today, which means that people need to remain alert even today.
Due to increase in temperature, the minimum temperature can remain much above normal even at night, due to which people do not see any respite from the heat even at night. The number of patients in hospitals may increase due to the extreme heat. The way the temperature is increasing and heat waves are increasing, the cases of heat stroke and dehydration can also increase. In such a situation, doctors have also advised people to drink as much water as possible, wear light clothes and go out in the sun with their heads covered if necessary.
