New Delhi: The issue of notices to many prominent personalities during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Delhi has sparked discussion. Let us tell you, former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Election Commissioner S.S. Many names including Sandhu are included in this. Along with this, former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia and his family have also received notice.
In which category were Minister Jaishankar and his wife kept?
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and his wife have been placed in the “unmapped with final SIR” category. This means that their current records could not be linked to the previous SIR list of 2002. Both are voters in Sunder Bagh part of New Delhi assembly constituency. The records of CBI Director Praveen Sood, his wife Vanita and mother Kamlesh Sood along with former Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and his wife Sunita Dwivedi could not be linked.
Advani, his daughter Pratibha and daughter-in-law Geetika also received notices for not being mapped from old records. It is noteworthy that when the last SIR was conducted in 2002, Advani was the Home Minister. However, the record of his son Jayant was cleared.
Why did Manish Sisodia get notice?
No specific reason was given in the notice issued to Sisodia. “Self-name mismatch” was found in the records of his wife Seema and “parent-name mismatch” in son Mir. Close family members say that they were not aware of this. CPM MP John Brittas' wife Sheba and son Anand also received similar mismatch notices.
The records of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Principal Scientific Advisor Ajay Kumar Sood, Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava and several members of the former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Desai family also fell in the unmapped category.
Final voter list will be released by November 4
The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi clarified that receiving the notice does not mean deletion of the name. These are system generated notices, intended to correct data in ECINet. No name can be removed without hearing and proper order. The concerned voters will have to submit the documents before the Electoral Registration Officer. The process will be completed by October 29 and the final voter list will be released on November 4.
