Farmer welfare is our top priority, PM Modi counted agricultural schemes among the achievements of 12 years.
New Delhi, June 11. On completion of 12 years of his government at the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made special mention of ‘farmer prosperity’. He said that many initiatives like PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and Crop Insurance Scheme are making farming more powerful along with protecting the income of the farmers. Along with this, PM Modi said that our farmer brothers and sisters are the pillars of food security, nutrition and prosperity of the country.

He wrote in the post, “Kisan Credit Card is very useful for farmers, livestock farmers and fishermen in providing easy loans at low interest for farming and other needs. Our initiative ‘from seed to market’ is also proving to be very effective in providing fair prices to their crops.” PM Modi also said that the welfare of farmers is among our top priorities. Therefore, our continuous emphasis has been on providing them modern facilities related to agriculture.
“Campaigns related to drones, soil health cards and natural fertilizers are also helping farmers increase crop productivity,” he said. In another post, while sharing ‘Sanskrit Subhashitam’, PM Modi wrote, “Agriculture is not only a means of livelihood, but is the basic basis of nutrition of the society and the nation. When the sweat of our farmer brothers and sisters gets mixed in the soil, it becomes food and supports the lives of the countrymen. Te Krishi Cha Sasya Cha Manusha Up Jeevanti. It is noteworthy that in the last decade, the Central Government has started many initiatives in the Indian agriculture sector, their objective has been to empower the farmers and their better income. According to data, more than 4 crore farmers have got the benefit of insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBI). Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), till now an amount of more than Rs 4.27 lakh crore has been sent to the accounts of farmers across the country. Nearly 3,000 varieties of climate-resilient crops were released between 2014-2025. Over Rs 84,200 crore were sanctioned under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, resulting in an investment of Rs 1.33 lakh crore.
Additionally, approximately 19 lakh hectares of land has been covered under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) since its inception. 109 lakh hectares of cultivation has been covered under Agristack Farmer ID and ‘Per Drop More Crop’ for 11 crore farmers. About 25 lakh farmers joined under PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana. Rs 24,000 crore has been distributed under PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana. At the same time, about 26 crore soil health cards were issued across the country.
