Ingredients for making Thepla
- Gram flour: 1 cup
- Wheat flour: 1/2 cup
- Fresh green fenugreek (finely chopped): 1 cup
- Yogurt: 2 tbsp
- Ginger-chilli paste: 1 tsp
- Ajwain: 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida: a pinch
- Oil: 1 tsp + a little oil for frying
- Salt: to taste
Method of preparation
Step 1: First of all, mix gram flour, wheat flour, finely chopped fenugreek, ginger-chilli paste, celery, turmeric, asafoetida, curd and salt well in a big vessel.
Step 2: Add 1 teaspoon oil and knead into a medium-soft dough, adding water little by little. Cover and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Step 3: Make small balls of the dough and roll them into thin theplas using dry flour.
Step 4: Heat a pan over medium heat. Apply a little oil on both sides of the thepla and fry until golden brown.
Step 5: You can enjoy this thepla for breakfast or lunch with fresh yogurt, green chutney, or garlic chutney. Diabetics can safely include it in their diet, as it’s both nutritious and delicious.
