Fierce demonstration of students in Patna! Clash with police during Raj Bhavan march, use of tear gas and water cannon after stone pelting, know complete updates

Patna. A huge student demonstration was witnessed in the capital Patna on Wednesday over paper leak, corruption in education, privatization and issues related to various student interests. Under the banner of leftist student organization AISA, thousands of students, youth and workers came out from Gandhi Maidan Gate No. 10 to march to Raj Bhavan.

However, the protesters were stopped by the police by barricading near JP Golambar. After this, there was a heated argument between the students and the police, which soon turned into a clash.

Clash between police and protesters-
The situation became tense during the march when protesters attempted to cross the barricade. During this, there was a scuffle between the police and the students. According to the police, some protesters also pelted stones, following which tear gas shells were fired and water cannons were used to control the situation.

Heavy police force has been deployed at the incident site and the situation is being constantly monitored.

Students raised many major demands-
During the demonstration, students demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Bihar Education Minister Mithlesh Tiwari. He also raised many issues related to impartial investigation of paper leaks, improvement in the education system and student interests.

Main demands of the protesters-
Resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and fast track investigation of all paper leak cases.
Demand for resignation of Bihar Education Minister Mithlesh Tiwari.
Use of force and lathicharge on students should be stopped.
Arrangement of giving equal degree to all students by removing the requirement of 7.5 CGPA.
The increased fees at UG, PG and PhD level should be withdrawn.
Non-NET fellowship should be implemented in all the universities of Bihar.
Privatization of education should be banned.
Strict action should be taken against corruption and paper leaks prevalent in the examination system.
The autonomy of universities should be maintained and there should be no compromise on the historical autonomy of Patna University.

AISA’s allegation-
AISA leaders said that the education system is in constant crisis and the future of the students is being played with. They allege that the government is weakening the public education system and working towards ending the autonomy of universities.

At present, the situation is said to be under control under the supervision of police and administration. However, student organizations have warned that if action is not taken soon on their demands, the agitation will be made wider.
