FIFA World Cup 2026: Spain ended 16 years of drought, reached the final by defeating France 2-0
New Delhi. Spain has reached the final of the Football World Cup (FIFA World Cup 2026) after 16 years. The team made it to the final for the second time by defeating France 2-0 in the first semi-final. Mikel Oyarzabal scored the first goal on a penalty in the 22nd minute at the Dallas Stadium. After this, Pedro Porro scored a goal in the 58th minute to ensure Spain’s victory.

Spain will play the final for the first time since 2010. Then the team won its only World Cup by defeating Netherlands 1-0 in the final. At the same time, France failed to reach the World Cup final for the third consecutive time after 2018 and 2022.
Spain got a penalty in the 22nd minute. French defender Lucas Digne fouled Lamin Yamal inside the box. After this the referee gave a penalty. Mikel Oyarzabal sent the ball to the right corner of the goal post. With this Spain took a 1-0 lead. This was Oyarzabal’s fifth goal of the tournament.
In the second half, France kept trying to equalize, but in the 58th minute, Pedro Porro scored on a brilliant pass from Dani Olmo to give Spain a 2-0 lead. After this, Spain maintained control of the ball and did not give any big chance to France.

Kylian Mbappé, who was in excellent form throughout the tournament, could not make an impact in front of Spain’s strong defense in this match. He was found offside several times and also received a yellow card in the second half. France lost the chance to play the World Cup Final for the third consecutive time after 2018 and 2022.
