FIFA World Cup: Allegation of rape twice in a single day… No-entry of Thomas Partey in FIFA, Canada court gives a big blow
ottawa: Ghana’s star midfielder Thomas Partey, who is facing several serious allegations of rape, has suffered a major setback amid the FIFA World Cup 2026. A Canadian federal judge has flatly refused to allow the player to enter the country (Entry Denied). The court has also approved this decision after the Canadian government canceled Thomas Party’s visa application last week.
Due to this court decision, Thomas Partey will not be able to take the field in Ghana’s first World Cup match against Panama in Toronto on Wednesday. However, he will remain in America for the time being and will be able to join the team for the next two matches to be held in America.
Serious allegations have been made against former Arsenal player
The main case of rape and sexual assault against 33-year-old Thomas Partee is ongoing in Britain. He is accused of sexual violence while dating several women while playing for English Premier League (EPL) club Arsenal between 2020 and 2025.
Thomas Partey, who plays for Spanish club Villarreal, has not yet been proven guilty by the court, but several cases against him are pending trial. In March this year, the player’s lawyer had said that Thomas was fighting a legal battle to prove himself innocent.
Allegation of rape twice in the same day, old files opened
Thomas Partey’s troubles worsened when a woman made a new and serious allegation against him of raping her twice on the same day in December 2020. The player was already awaiting court hearing on five counts of rape involving two other women and a case of sexual assault involving another woman. As soon as these old cases became public, new allegations against the player also came to light. In view of this criminal background, the Canadian court did not allow him to step on the soil of his country.
