In his meeting with US President Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, PM Modi said – Safety of Indian sailors is very important.
Evian Les Bains (France)17 June. A bilateral meeting took place between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit here on Wednesday. During this meeting, PM Modi raised the issue of security of Indian sailors and said that their security is very important and opening of the Strait of Hormuz is very important for the world.
Recently, when asked about the death of three Indians in the American attack on an Indian flagged ship, Donald Trump said, ‘This is a very tough profession and we love these people and will definitely work together on this.’ Along with this, PM Modi praised Trump’s efforts to restore peace in West Asia and expressed his gratitude.
Whereas Donald Trump said about PM Modi that he looks like an ‘angel’. Regarding the trade deal between India and America, Trump said that it is very close and PM Modi is a very ‘tough negotiator’.
PM Modi praised Trump’s efforts for peace agreement in West Asia
PM Modi and President Donald Trump met journalists after the bilateral meeting. During this, PM Modi told President Trump, ‘I congratulate you for the progress that has been made in the efforts for peace in West Asia. Because of your efforts, a new ray is visible in West Asia and we hope that lasting peace will come. You and we all agree that keeping the Strait of Hormuz open is essential for the global economy. We have always been saying that freedom of navigation should be ensured and we all should together emphasize on this.
The Prime Minister told Trump, ‘You know that in the world of maritime trade, millions of seafarers from India are serving in different seas of the world, making a huge contribution to the progress of the world and I think their safety is equally important.’
Praising the agreement between Iran and America, PM Modi told Trump, ‘You have made a lot of efforts in the efforts for peace, I have full confidence that the safety of seafarers will also be ensured in the agreement and will also be given priority. I once again praise and congratulate you for your best efforts to restore peace in West Asia.
After this statement of PM Modi, Donald Trump took questions from journalists and answered them, whereas no journalist asked any question to PM Modi.
Trump said – India-America trade deal near, PM Modi ‘Tough negotiator’
On a question regarding the US-India trade deal, Donald Trump said, “He (PM Modi) is a very tough negotiator. In fact, he is one of the toughest people. He is the most beautiful looking man. He looks very good. He is like an angel. But actually he is very tough. He looks very good, so he surprises you, but there are very few people like him. People say, ‘He is a very nice man.’ I say, ‘He is very strict’… We will go to India sometime in the future.”
Recalling his last visit to India, he said – will go to India again in the future.
Trump said, ‘My last visit to India was very wonderful. We inaugurated that new stadium and I believe there were three to four lakh people present there. There was a seating arrangement for about 1.5 lakh people in that stadium whereas there were about 2.5 lakh people outside and about one lakh people were present on the grass of the ground… I don’t know whether that record was broken or not… but I had a great time in India.
‘India plays an important role in everything, as long as he (PM Modi) is the leader’
Asked to express his condolences on the death of three Indian sailors in the US attack near Oman, Trump said, ‘I have heard about it, it is a difficult profession and we work together on it. It’s always been that way, but we work together. We love all those people. Can India play an important role in West Asia? On this question, Trump said, ‘India plays an important role in everything, as long as he (PM Modi) is the leader.’
