He said India’s development journey is based on inclusivity, scale and democratic empowerment, inspired by the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’. He also said that this vision is visible in India’s G20 presidency and initiatives such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
The Prime Minister said that due to the West Asia crisis, global supply chains are being affected, and at such a time, weaker countries should not bear the burden of these shocks alone. He appealed to international financial institutions to develop strong support mechanisms to protect developing countries from economic shocks.
He also said that while many countries are facing aging populations, India and countries in the global south have a large pool of young talent and skills. To take advantage of this balance, he called for a ‘Global Skills Partnership’.
PM Modi said that an initiative like ‘International Mobilization Partnership for Accelerating Connectivity and Trade’ (IMPCAT) can also be considered by combining G7 capital, India’s talent and participation of countries of the Global South.
Before the session, Prime Minister Modi met several global leaders including Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Brazilian President Lula da Silva, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Director Kristalina Georgieva.
